1925, 10,415 sq m, 50 years and 16,664 sq m are the first four figures in EdgeProp's 17 September 2026 report on the Singapore Tourism Board's tender for 37 Emerald Hill. The board launched a concept and price revenue tender to redevelop the site into a hotel and lifestyle destination, according to its release of 16 September 2026, and EdgeProp's report supplies the detail behind each number. Each of the six figures appears again in the ordered list below.

The campus dates from 1925 and served as the Singapore Chinese Girls' School until July 1994. Chatsworth International School used it from 1998, moved to a primary-only campus in 2018 and closed in 2020. The site sits where Somerset meets the Emerald Hill Conservation Area, behind the Orchard shopping belt and opposite The Heeren and Design Orchard, about a nine-minute walk from Somerset MRT. EdgeProp's report puts the preserved buildings at the centre of the brief: the Main Block, the Principal's House and the Song Ong Siang Block are the three structures it names.

  5. 6 months: the length of the tender, which is open to local and international bidders and spans the period from the board's release on 16 September 2026 to the close of proposals.
  6. 16 March 2027: the date proposals close.

Permitted Uses and Aims in the Tender, Noted Near The Vanda Green

EdgeProp reported that the tender looks for a new-to-market hotel concept, first-of-its-kind lifestyle experiences and accessible public spaces with year-round programming. Predominantly hospitality and commercial uses are permitted, including restaurants, bars and pubs, outdoor refreshment areas, shops, a fitness centre, a gym and medical clinics, while the permitted-use list excludes housing, offices, serviced apartments and schools. In the board's release the aim is a mixed-use site that "celebrates its rich heritage whilst creating a distinctive new lifestyle node". The Singapore Tourism Board said the aim is to strengthen Orchard Road as an iconic lifestyle destination, attract visitors, encourage longer stays and repeat visits, and support its ambition for quality tourism growth towards 2040.
